Hikes in Kaysersberg
The Kaysersberg Valley and the surrounding area offer a wide variety of hiking trails from the Alsace plain to the Vosges mountains, as well as scenic walks through the vineyards for wine enthusiasts.
Just a few kilometres from the Kaysersberg Valley, the 88km-long Route des Crêtes runs through the Vosges massif between Alsace and Lorraine, much to the delight of hikers. This route is also of historical significance since it was originally created during World War I for strategic communication, logistics, and defence of the Vosges front.
A Natural Paradise between Breathtaking Panoramas and Wildlife
Today, it is a major tourist route, showcasing the symbolic landscapes of the Vosges.
Hikers will be awed by the panoramic views stretching into the distance over lakes, mountains, meadows and mountain passes.
The Vosges massif is also home to a wealth of biodiversity, so hikers may also encounter some of the local wildlife: chamois being the most emblematic, but also stags and roe deer.
The Lac Blanc
Lac Blanc is a majestic site located at an altitude of 1,055 metres and surrounded by a fir forest.
Its name comes from the colour of its water resulting from the crystalline sand covering its bottom. This area is home to chamois, and features a wealth of hiking trails for exploring the region.
The Lac Blanc resort is a lively destination all year round. It includes a bike park for mountain bike enthusiasts, an adventure park, rock-climbing, cross-country and alpine ski slopes, tobogganing, and more.
Don’t miss the Barefoot Trail: an innovative and sensory experience where you leave your shoes behind for a 1.2km walk over the forest floor (designed especially for this purpose).
